No more baby!

Well I finally dcided to move Kelbie into a big bed, take down the crib and make her room more into a big girls room and not a nursery. This all got started when we finally decided to clean the loft and turn it into the play room. This required all the baby stuff up there to come downstairs into the guest closet and the day bed to be put somewhere other then the loft. I got in a cleaning mood and I wasn't going to stop until it was complete. The loft is going to take a little more time but it's coming along pretty well and I can't wait to finally move most of he toys upstairs. I completed Kelbie's room today and she seems to really enjoy it. She is doing pretty well sleeping in the big bed and hopefully she we get used to sleepin alone. I have to lay with her when she goes to bed and down for nap but it usually doesn't take long for her to fall asleep. I will add some pictures a little later. I am now on a mission to update all the other rooms I have been thinking of sprucing up!

Kelbie's Surgery and Life Update

Kelbie had a tube put in her right ear and her Adenoids removed on July 5th. They put the tube in to help with the fluid which in turn will hopefully help her start talking more since she will be able to hear better. The adenoids were removed basically because it should help her from getting sick. After the 5 months we had of her constantly being sick, something had to be done. Although I do have to say ever since she has been home with me this summer she hasn't really been sick.

Her new ENT is great.  I really like her. She is very friendly, answers all of our questions and takes the time to talk with us. I feel like she is going to be a good fit for us during everything Kelbie will have to get done. The surgery went very well. She was in and out of the OR in like 30 minutes. It took her a little longer to get out of recovery, but after about a day and a half she was pretty much back to normal. She still isn't eating super great but she does eat so I am not to concerned. We will go back in August for a follow up to make sure everything is looking good.

Other things going on in our life;

James is working insane hours this summer (like most summers) Kelbie usually doesn't get to see him, but I do try to keep her up on some night that he isn't coming home to late so that she can play with him for a little bit. I am ready for September to be here so he will be home at a normal time and we can actually do somethings as a family.

Summer is starting to come to a close for me which I have mixed feelings about. I do like that I don't have to do anything during the summer and if I want to I can stay in PJ's all day, but I am somewhat ready to get back to the grind of things. I am excited that Kelbie will be starting school for many reasons, even though finding a nanny has become quit a challenge for me. I will miss all the quality time Kelbie and I have had, but it will be good for her to make new friends.

Kelbie is growing like a weed. I took her to the doctor (which we have officially switch to the TCH doctor) yesterday to have this weird rash looked at, which turned out to be nothing, and already weighs 29 lbs and 9oz. I thought she had leveled out, but this now explains why my back hurts at the end of everyday. She has picked up a few new words since starting with her new Speech Teacher. We can now say Bye-Bye, Hi, Moo and Meow. For a kid that wasn't talking at all besides the normal babble that is a big step. She has also gotten very good and signing, even though some of the signs she has kinda made up on her own.

Well off to enjoy the raining day inside. Looks like lots of Mickey Mouse Club House and playing with Kelbie's toys.

Kelbie's 2nd July 4th!

Happy 4th of July!

Not doing anything special this year since Kelbie has surgery tomorrow. We did go see Nana and Granddaddy this morning just to get us out of the house for a bit. It is scary how much she is starting to look like me. My mom told me that she looks just like I did at that age. She sure is growing up fast :(

Colorado Roadtrip

We just got back from a 10 day adventure in Colorado with my Parents. James wasn't able to go since its busy season, but we still had fun. We left on Thursday  and broke the trip into two stops on the way up. The first night we stayed with a family member in Wichita Falls then Friday we stayed in Santa Fe. We made it to Pagosa Springs Saturday afternoon to check in. The ride up went pretty well. Kelbie did pretty well but did have a few meltdowns and hated her car seat by the end. She was also having some tummy troubles so I think that was making her a little uncomfortable as well.

The week there went by pretty fast. We basically just hung out Sunday and Monday. My mom and I got to go get a mani/pedi Monday while Kelbie was napping. That afternoon we headed into town to look at the shops and check out the Hot Springs.

Tuesday we drove into Durango and Purgatory. In Purgatory we did the Alpine slide which was a lot of fun even thought having to take the ski lift up to the top was a little freaky for me. I definitely would do it again though. It was a lot of fun. My parents were going to do the scenic tour on the lift but the weather got a little nasty so they had the lift closed. We had some lunch and then looked in the shops. On the way back we stopped in Durango to do yet more shopping. It was a cute little town and had some fun shops. They had a chocolate shop with the best chocolate covered apples. Needless to say I should have bought a ton of them because they were amazing.

Wednesday was another hang around day. Kelbie loved just hanging out watching and feeding the geese whenever she could. We did try out the pool but the water was way to cold for her. She had fun but was shivering the whole time. We also found a cool little park on the other side of the lake that was perfect for Kelbie. She could swing all day long.

Thursday we headed back to Durango to take the train into Silverton. 3.5 hours was fun and the scenery was beautiful. Occupying an almost 2 year old for that long is a little challenging but Kelbie did great. Once in Silverton we got to grab lunch and do some shopping. We decided to eat at this BBQ place that was on Dives and Diners with Guy Firreti (or how ever you spell his name). I thought it would be great since he recommended it but it really wasn't. Maybe its because we are from Texas and our BBQ is different. After a little shopping we took a shuttle back. He made a quick stop in Durango again so I got another apple (YUMMM). Then we headed back to the resort.

Friday was our last day there so we went back into town to look at a few more shops and just enjoy our last day there. We made it back to Texas in 2 days and Kelbie did a lot better on the way back. We watched a lot of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Over all it was a great trip and the weather was great, minus the smoke from all the fires. I would for sure love to go back again. I will post some pictures later. My computer is super slow.
