Ten on Tuesday

1. Would you rather give up pedicures or flat/curling irons?
Pedicures... I have pretty much given them up already. I never have the time or money to get them done. My flat iron on the other hand I love. Yes my hair is already pretty straight but I feel the need to use the straighter almost everyday as well.

 2. Does your middle name have a family meaning?
Not that I am aware of. I think my parents just liked it.

 3. Do you like to sneeze?
I guess. It usually makes my head feel better since my allergies are completely out of control the year.

 4. Do you think kids should need to learn cursive?
No. It is a waste of time. You don't ever have to use cursive in your adult life. My cursive looks the exact same as it did in 3rd grade when I first learned how to write it.

 5. When you go to the beach for the day, what do you take? Towels, Water, Snacks, Change of Clothes.... Kelbie has yet to go to the beach so we haven't had to pack all that stuff yet.

 6. Which decade had the best music?
The 90's I guess

 7. Are you a good hand-shaker?
I have no idea. I don't shake hands that often.

 8. Do you have a go-to meal for when you are at a restaurant and you can’t decide?
Either chicken tenders or a burger

 9. Do you have slippers?
Yes 2 pairs. I only wear them when it is cold or the house it really cold.

 10. Are you easily grossed out?
With some things yes. It all depends on what we are talking about.

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we headed up to Flint, TX for a little weekend getaway for our anniversary. It was actually more of a family vacation but we don't mind going away with the munchkin. You might be wondering why Flint and what is there to do up there. To be honest not much and we learned that it is a dry county and had to drive up the road to a town called Coffee City to get beer. My parents have a timeshare and Flint was a location that had a place we could stay. The place is called Silverleaf Resorts and it wasn't to bad. I would actually like to back for a longer weekend. We stayed in the newer, nicer part of the resort about a mile down the road from the main part. At the main part there is a water park (I thought wasn't worth the money but James, Kelbie and my dad had a lot of fun), an activity center with an arcade, swimming pools, putt putt, basketball, playgrounds, and volleyball. Our room actually looked out onto Lake Palestine so that was pretty cool. Down by our section there was another pool and playground and they even had a little beach area that they had made. We were also right across from the Marina. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the resort but I forgot.

We left Friday afternoon and made it there around dinner time. We went to the store for some food and just kinda hung out and grilled. Saturday we headed into Tyler and went to the Caldwell zoo. That was a lot of fun. There zoo was pretty awesome. It was very open and their exhibits were great. Kelbie had a lot of fun and loved looking all the animals. Her new favorite thing is ducks and she thinks anything that is similar looking to a duck (birds, flamingos, etc) are ducks. After the zoo we went to lunch and then headed back to the resort to relax. We tried to check out the pool but the water was freezing. James and Kelbie got in for a few minutes and then I decided that Kelbie didn't need to be in the freezing water so we headed over to the playground to let her run around. She had so much fun. She got so excited when she say the playground. On Sunday we just hung around the resort. James and my dad went to the water park while my mom, Kelbie and I hung around the resort. There was a kid area at the water park so I took Kelbie up there to hang out for a little bit. She had a pretty good time but wasn't a huge fan of all the water splashing on her. We grabbed a quick lunch after all the water fun and packed up to head back home.

It was a good, short trip and I do wish we could have stayed an extra day or two. So we are now back to reality and hopefully when we go back next time we can rent a boat and spend some time on the water. Here are a few pictures of our trip. More are on facebook.

1. What was the last gift someone gave you for no reason at all?
I can't think of anything that was a gift. A co worker bought me a drink from Sonic

4.What is your favorite thing to with a group of friends?

18 Month

18 Months already? Where has the time gone. Only 6 more months until she is 2. She is no longer a baby, but a toddler and a very active one at that. She is changing every day, people keep telling me that she is starting to look more like me, but I have to tell you I still think she looks a lot like James. His genes are just more powerful. Here is what the little one has been up too lately...

- She has officially been accepted to pre school which she will be starting at the end of August going 3 days a week and spending the other 2 at a daycare. I am not sure how she is going to react to it, but I am pretty excited about it and really feel like it was a good decision.

- She babbles none stop but refuses to say any real words. She started taking speech about 3 weeks ago and goes twice a week in hopes of getting some words out of her. Her therapist says that she is hearing more sounds and vowels so maybe we are on the right track.

- This girl loves to be outside. Doing side walk chalk, swinging, sliding (all by herself, climbing up and all) and just running around. She thinks it is hilarious to chase the dogs around the back yard and try to get catch them.

- She has become quite the picky eater. She used to eat just about anything and now even the things she used to love, she refuses to eat. No veggies unless they are in baby food form.

- She does love pretty much all fruit, peanut butter crackers, grilled cheese, quesadillas, milk, juice, yogurt raisins, cereal, yogurt, fish sticks, bread, etc.

- We tried to move her back into her booster seat, but she still very much prefers to sit in the high chair. She likes to climb into it herself whenever she is ready to eat. We have one that is adjustable so it sits pretty low to the ground.

- Tantrums are a new thing around our house, whenever she wants something and doesn't get it we scream and cry. This goes for everything.

- No longer enjoys bath time. She doesn't sit, but wants to stand and cries when the water gets on her head. We have now resorted to her taking a shower with me and are trying to get her back into the bath tub. She did do okay last night in the tub while daddy was in there.

- Still sleeping like a champ. Goes to bed around 7-730pm and wakes up around 6-630am during the week and will sleep till sometimes 730am on the weekends. She does still take 2 naps a day but this summer we will be going to one to get her ready for school.

- Still not a fan of the potty and doesn't show much interest in potty training. Hoping to give it a try this summer and get her comfortable with it.

- She has a new found love for play dough. We bought her some a few days ago. She hasn't gotten the hang of what you are supposed to do with it. She just wants us to open up all the containers and give her the colors. She doesn't like to mash or anything. We will get there. She is also very much into coloring. We leave the crayons, paper and coloring books out so that they are always accessible to her when she is ready to color.

I am sure there is more I didn't write but I can't really think of anything else right now. Here are her 18 month stats:

Height: 34.75 inches (off the charts)
Weight:26 lbs 10 oz (80%)
Head: 19.5 inches (95%)

Ten on Tuesday

This random batch of questions is from Sue at Simon’s Sista Saw! She’s not American, can you tell?!

1. Do you prefer fabric or plastic plasters? (or Band-Aids if American)
Doesn't matter to me. I buy whatever is on sale. I think all the ones we have now are plastic. James and I have the normal old band aids but Kelbie has some cute ones with flowers and stuff. She rarely needs them though so that is good.

2. Do you prefer gel pens, biro or fine liners for everyday writing?
Not picky. A pen is a pen in my opinion. At work we have the good old BIC brand and they work pretty well. When I write thank you notes, letters or anything special I do like the gel pins because I feel like they glide better. If I don't have any around I use whatever I can find. My husband often takes my nice pens to work and they never make it back home. Shocking!

3. Do you have a fear or needles/dentists/blood (if all three, which is the worst) and is there a story behind it?
I wouldn't say I have a fear. I don't mind the dentist at all. When I was a kid I used to love going to the dentist and my mom thought I was totally weird. Needles don't bother me, but I always have to look away when they are giving me a shot or taking blood. Blood that is a different story. A little blood isn't bad but a ton of it really creeps me out. If I have to deal with it I will but I prefer to leave that job to someone else.

4. Do you like jelly? Do you eat it at any time other than when poorly?
Yes! I don't eat it often. I eat it on toast occasionally and I eat Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches.

5. What are your Easter traditions? (if not Christian, insert your own meaningful festival here and tell us about that instead)
I don't know if you would call them traditions but we usually attend church and then meet up with the family for either lunch or dinner. Kelbie gets an Easter basket filled with fun stuff, but James and I don't do the whole basket thing. I look forward to when Kelbie is a little bit bigger and we can explain Easter to her so that she doesn't just think it is a day to get candy and look for eggs.

6. What’s your favourite book that you have read so far this year?
I read a good one call The Glass House which I thought was pretty good. I don't read any of the popular books like Hunger Games. My favorite authors are still Janet Evanovich and Mary Higgins Clark. I did get a book by Jane Clark that I really enjoyed, so I am going to look into some more of her books.

7. Do you have any magazine subscriptions or recommendations that we should know about?
No Subscriptions. I always pick up the latest gossip when I am at the grocery store... In Touch, Life & Style, People. Every once in awhile I will pick up a Cosmo but very rarely.

8. Favourite etsy store (if you know the owner IRL, also include your favourite that you didn’t originally know IRL)?
Don't have one. To be honest I don't shop ETSY much. I found a lady in California on facebook, Beccas Bows, that I buy from. I love her stuff. She does bows, shirts, tutus, pretty much anything.

9. If you had play money (£100/$150) that could only be used on shoes, what shoes would you buy?I have been looking for some cute sandals, flats that I can wear at work and during the summer. I don't wear heels so I wouldn't spend money on those. You can never go wrong with a good, comfortable pair of shoes.

10. If you were going pet shopping tomorrow, what would you choose?
I need no more animals so pet shopping wouldn't be happening. If I had to choose a pet and I would love another dog or cat. With two dogs already three would probably be to much, so maybe another cat that way Indiana would have a playmate, although she hates all other cats. A fish would be nice too just because they are easy and Kelbie is recently fascinated with them.

Happy Easter '12

Kelbie enjoyed herself on Easter this year. She was old enough to participate in the Egg hunts and enjoy going through her baskets. We let her open her basket from us before we headed to church. She didn't seem to care to much about anything in her basket other then the eggs. She didn't want what was in the eggs either. She emptied out the candy just to play with the egg. Lesson learned to just buy plastic eggs and not worry about all the other stuff. I mean plastic eggs are like 50 cents at Walmart for like 10 or 15 eggs.  She got coloring books, stamps, glasses, bubbles, slinkies and braclets for the Easter bunny at our house.

We went to church at Danny and Shannon's church. They do Easter on the Hill in Sienna and do an egg hunt before. This was Kelbie's first egg hunt. Last year she was to little to get the concept of what you were supposed to do. It did take a little bit for her to get the hang of collecting the eggs, but after she did, she had a basket full of eggs. When church started she sat and played with her eggs for awhile and went down for the children's portion of church and then became a little restless, so James took her down by the lake to look at the animals in the water. There was a turtle that kept swimming by the dock that she loved but there was also a baby alligator that we thought was pretty cool. After church we went to eat at Ninfa's, which I have decided is not my favorite place. After lunch we didn't have to be at my parents until later for dinner so we went home to let Kelbie nap and to just relax.

We headed to my parents for dinner with all the family. Kelbie, Brayden and Trystan got to open their Easter baskets that the Easter bunny leaves at Nana and Granddaddy's. She got some candy and snacks, as well as some paper to color on, stickers and a bunny purse. Once we ate dinner the kids went on another egg hunt. Kelbie did better this time as it was her second time in one day to have to go find eggs. Once she got them all and we went back inside she did insist on opening every egg to see what was inside. Luckily there wasn't much candy this time so we didn't have to fight over not eating it all.

Easter we pretty good this year and I look forward to next year when Kelbie will really understand what Easter is about. We haven't told her much about Easter as I feel she is still a little young to understand, but with her starting school next year they will talk about it in class and she will start to get a better understanding.

Hope everyone had a great Easter as well. Here are a few pictures of our day. Of course all of the pictures from our day are on Facebook.

Ten on Tuesday

1. How do you feel about April Fool’s Day?

Personally it is just another day. I can always tell when someone is doing an April Fools thing. I never believe Engagements, Baby announcements, Lottery wins, ETC until the next day because if you post something like that on the 1st I will not believe you.

2. Do you like birds?
Sure I guess. I mean I would never own one as a pet and some of them are dirty little things. They serve a purpose and Kelbie likes them so I guess they aren't that bad. I don't have any kind of weird bird phobia though.

3. How often do you wear your hair in a ponytail?
At least a few times a week. I have gotten quite lazy with my hair these days. It is so much easier and fast to just get out of the shower and throw it back. I am waiting for my hair to grow out again so I can do my signature messy bun that I miss.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight?
No. I believe in lust at first sight. Some people I am sure do and believe that the person they are with was love at first sight. I think it takes sometime to really be in love.

5. What is your favorite appetizer?
Depends on where I am at. I like Calamari, Onion Strings, Mozzarella Sticks, Queso

6. What is your favorite brand of heels?
Well I don't really wear that many heels, but I have a new love for Rocket Dog. They are pretty comfortable. Now if money wasn't an option I would wear Jessica Simpson or Louis Vatton

7. Are you a picky eater?
Kinda sorta. There are alot of things that I don't really like, but I have gotten better about trying new things.

8. Is there a tv show you like that nobody ever talks about?
There are a couple that I watch that people I normally talk to don't really watch but I wouldn't say that nobody talks about them. I really like Swamp People, Long Island Medium, The Little Couple

9. Do you prefer hot tea or cold tea?
Cold Tea, there is something about it being hot that I just can't do, if I have a sore throat I can sometimes to hot tea, but I prefer it cold

10. Gayle or Peeta? (If you don’t know how to answer, read The Hunger Games.)
I have not read The Hunger Games and I have no intention of doing so. Not my type of reading.
